The carpet hunt

Ever since I discovered the cutest photos of this installation all over Instagram, I had wanted to go. Isn’t it funny when art becomes an Instagram darling, and suddenly all #bloggers gather with their cameras and cute outfits… I did too.

A few days ago after work I met up with my friend, booked an Uber to 526W 26th St (the Chelsea area where most galleries are hidden), and opened the doors to a carpet Mecca at Galerie Lelong. The exhibition is named ‘Protruding Patterns’ and is created by Beijing-based artist Lin Tianmiao. She has collected around 2,000 words and expressions about women in various different languages (which took over 6 years!!) and has then woven the lexicon into carpets creating the coolest 3D effect. Walking around the carpet was such an adventure with new cool words or color combinations popping up. I definitely thought about, more than once, how I could get away with placing that carpet in my own home (pretty sure Edward would hate me, haha).

I wore a very minimalist outfit with a trend-pop from the check blazer. I love scandal looks like this one. Very effortless chic.
