Having a few off days

I legit thought I suffered from fatigue this morning when I woke up. Or didn’t wake up. Edward & Aniyah left for job and school at 6.45AM. I couldn’t keep my eyes open.

I tried turning on the TV at 7am. Fell asleep. Then I dreamed I couldn’t open my eyes because I kept falling asleep. I was in a vintage store (in the dream). A huge store. They still had an enormous Christmas Tree in one room (because it wasn’t dry enough for anyone to want to throw it out – I would love to know what kind of magical Christmas tree isn’r dry by April…), and when I asked if I could see some of the cheaper pieces (God knows why I would ask that? I guess I can’t afford that vintage Chanel bag yet…), they started opening presents from under the tree with items that 1. apparently hadn’t gone out for Christmas, 2. was cheap. (If anyone knows the meaning of this please let me know, because it’s not quite clear to me tbh).

While this all took place I fought not to fall asleep. It was a little easier when I took my glasses off (again, I have no idea why). I woke up in real life at 8AM and felt somewhat uncomfortable/weird, but pretty quickly jumped out of bed. No more of that dream for me! Although the vintage store was pretty cool.

After a morning workout (to shake the fatigue away) I’m now sat on my couch writing you this. It’s been a weird few days since I put my grandmothers on the plane back to Denmark. I had a crazy amount of separation anxiety, cried my eyeballs out. Tried picking myself up by going down to the lower east to hang out with Emma before she went back to Denmark again last night. Had comfort food aka Shake Shack. With a strawberry milkshake of course (nothing less). Edward had bought me a doughnut, which I had with my sleep tea at night (call me a grandma, but I drink sleep tea before bed and turn on my diffuser with relaxing aroma therapy). Maybe all the unhealthy food slowly killed me resulting in this weird morning… I have no idea.

If any of you have a dream dictionary, please let me know down below what my weird dream will mean for my future! Haha!

Have a wonderful Wednesday my angels <3

Shit just got real: calling all SATC fans

c0d16998-6626-4ee1-96e4-1b967ed741b8Hey friends!

How are you doing? I’m so happy you loved yesterday’s post especially over on Instagram. I love how positive you all are <3 Thank you for that.

Have you guys been following the SATC drama that unfolded over the weekend? I’m so sad. SATC-life will never be the same. I guess there was always some girl-drama between the cast (which makes me very sad, because in my mind they’re best friends IRL too!), but I had no idea how intense it was. If you’re not up to speed here’s a little recap: Drama has been going on since the (almost) beginning of the TV-show (read New York Post’s take on the drama back from October 2017) and apparently it came from Kim Cattral slowly being shut out of the cast’s friendship outside of the show. But this weekend Sarah Jessica Parker paid her condolences to Kim Cattral that recently lost her brother. Kim Cattral literally sent a firestorm back publicly on Instagram. It all went a little too public for me, and literally got me so sad. I don’t even know if I can watch the show anymore. Is that stupid? I really feel like it ruined the really special relationship I have with that show. Do you guys feel like that? If you’re even reading about all this…

(Read NY Times’s article from this weekend)

On a more positive note I’m back in the office today. Not that it’s easy peasy – I’m still battling the fever. It keeps coming back, but I’m just taking it slow. I hope you guys had a lovely start to the week. If anybody has the Monday Blues, let me know in the comments below. And also, I would love to know your take on the whole SATC-drama. Are you sad? Could you care less? Let’s discuss.

PRACTICING GRATEFULNESS

img_2922I’ve been wanting to touch upon this subject for a while, not quite knowing how to go about it. As I wrote in my Top 5 Happenings of 2017 I’ve been practicing gratefulness the last year. It came to my attention (and here I must give credit to Edward) that I complained way too much. I’m so fortunate to be living. And to be living in a city like New York. To be following my dreams. To have food on the table every night. To have a warm bed.

In the beginning I just kind of saw this as my right, because “of course that’s how I live.” It’s how I always lived. But Edward coming from another background (growing up in New York is hardcore) he would get pretty sick of me complaining every time things didn’t go my way. This might’ve had to do with the fact that I had a job I hated, where I felt miserable, but I still shouldn’t be complaining. I should be grateful, and then do something about it all.

img_2923So I started researching a bit, and found that my favorite couple in this world, Mimi & Alex Ikonn, had made the 5 Minute Journal. They often talk about it on their social media channels, but I didn’t really care much for it. But for some reason, this time I clicked it home. Essentially you keep it next to your bed and pick it up first thing in the morning to fill in what you are grateful for, what would make your day good, and then your daily affirmation. At night before you go to bed you fill in 3 amazing things that happened that day, and at last, what could’ve made your day better. It makes you think a more about the little things and really dig in and realize how you’re feeling.

I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to either become more grateful (my purpose), if you want a nice ritual (kind of like a diary), or if you want to become more aware of yourself.

Happy Thanksgiving!

zara-blazerI’m enjoying the long weekend after a successful Thanksgiving on Thursday. I was on the dessert team (with me, myself, and I) and made Apple Pie, tear-and-share orange chocolate cookie, and then I attempted Pumpkin Pie as well, which unfortunately burnt in the oven. But the other two desserts were a success! I also made candy yams (sweet potato mash with marshmallows), which tasted a liiiittle too healthy, but I’ll try again next year!

Friday we went upstate to visit our friends, who just bought a house in Orange County. An hour drive outside Manhattan and we found ourselves in the middle of nowhere, but the house was beautiful! It made me dream about the day I’ll own a house. One with a big garden, plenty of rooms for my family to come visit from Denmark, and Edward’s big wish: a deck where he can throw a big BBQ for his friends. For now I’m loving our new apartment though. As I told you, I started decorating the house before Thanksgiving, and yesterday we bought our Christmas tree which is now standing tall in the living room. I wrapped up all the Christmas gifts Edward has bought so far (he’s one of those people who likes to have it done by Dec 1st), and put them under the tree. It’s getting so festive! Oh, how I love this time of year.

Sick day favorites

c451a0e4-7e2e-44b6-b104-8d9473cba0f8I’ve been working from home both Monday and Tuesday this week to fight an f***ing annoying cold and fever. I stupidly went into the office on Monday morning thinking I would try to work (even if it was just a half day), but I was quickly sent home with my computer in hand. At the old company I worked for, people came in with all different diseases, which always got everyone else sick – all because they couldn’t miss a work day. There wasn’t really any possibility to work form home. So it’s actually very relieving working for a company that care about their employees. I might have been a little less productive, but at least I’m getting better. But since it’s that time of year, I thought I would share with you some of my sick day favorites.

Kleenex.
There’s really nothing worse that tearing apart your nose, because you don’t have the right tissues for all those sneezes.

Tea.
I switch between licorice and women’s tea from Yogi.

Some sweets.
My everyday diet kind of goes out of the window when I’m sick. I don’t really want a lot of food, so I try to get some chocolate, clementines, or some ice cream to satisfy the cravings.

TV.
It’s pretty boring to be sick. Let’s keep it real. So I’ve been watching ABC’s morning TV and  YouTube videos in the background while doing some work.

Warm socks.
My mom always said to me to have warm feet to avoid getting sick, so I put on a warm pair of socks and even my favorite Ugg slippers.
