A belated Merry Christmas from me to you! I’m enjoying this magical time with my family, and super grateful to have my grandparents visiting us here in New York. We ended up 7 people on Christmas Eve and I cooked Danish Christmas food all day. On the morning of the 25th we opened all the gifts, and boy am I one lucky girl. Maybe I’ll show you a peek later on. One of the gifts for my grandparents was a ‘Coffee and Cake’ date at Maison Kayser, so that we did on the 25th in the afternoon. Such gorgeous cakes! After that we went for a drive down 5th Avenue to look at Guggenheim and then all the pretty Christmas lights.

It’s time for week three of my December. This time I tried to film every day of the week. It starts snowing here in New York, I get a very exciting package, and I go to the famous Christmas House outside New York.
It’s time for a little PJ’s inspo. Edward and I (And I bet a lot of other families) have the tradition of staying in our PJ’s on Christmas Day while we watch movies, enjoy good food, and open the last half of the presents (we open the first half on the Danish Christmas Eve the 24th). So I thought it would only be right to bring out the PJ’s in here. Maybe some of you guys are on the market for a new one? Does anyone have the same tradition? If you have other traditions, I would LOVE to hear them <3
New York is looking so festive these days. I mean, we are very close to Christmas now, but it just seems like New York is more magical than I remember from the last couple of years. Or maybe I’m just happier and more open to it all. I did go through a few rough Christmases (one of them you can read about right here) without any of my family. One where I was stuck in America because of visa issues. Not fun.
This year is different though. I have invited my parents and grandparents to come to New York for Christmas. My parents can’t make it, and will come in May instead. But my grandparents are arriving on Friday. I am beyond excited. I have to remember to enjoy the days with them, as I always find the time flying by and then getting emotional when I drive them back to the airport to fly home (not that I think that getting emotional will ever change, it just gets worse the older I get). It’s not easy living far away from home, and from my family and good friends, during times like these. Edward does make it all very magical for us, and I’m so grateful for having such a great man in my life. And I want to say no buts. But there is a but. Not a but that has anything to do with Edward and our life here, but just that these times makes me miss my family a lot. And the fact that my two good friends both are going home to Denmark this month (one already left, one leaves on Saturday) doesn’t help.
Sometimes I find myself blaming Edward that he’s happy, and that he has all his friends, family, and memories here. Because I’m jealous. It just happened last night again. And I just start crying. Like a crazy person. And I feel so bad for making him feel bad.
Don’t get me wrong though, I’m very grateful that my grandparents are visiting us. I look forward to all the memories we will have, I look forward to their wonderful stories, and great advice. And I look forward to their warmth. And then I look forward to all the great food, to give them all gifts, to hug, to wake up and drink morning coffee. And to show them how beautiful New York looks right now. I can’t wait!
As we speak I’m on my way to the radio city hall to watch the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular with my family. A very Christmasy night the New York way. Edward and I also saw it last year, but it certainly has potential to become a tradition and something to do at Christmas time every year.
Speaking of December activities, yesterday I had such a wonderful Sunday. I had invited Mie up for brunch (made sure to earn some extra points with her by making her favorite avocado toast with soft boiled eggs and a some salty and crispy bacon) and a little work afterwords. She, a finals for her almost done semester at Columbia University. Me, content for the rest of December since I’ve decided to blog every day. And vlog. I’m very excited and very busy. Hope you are too (excited that is!).
After a good amount of work we headed to Central Park as we had decided to do some ice skating! It turned out that the rest of New York City has decided to do so as well. The ice rink was so busy. So instead we decided to eat a warm pretzel and go for a walk around the park. It’s pretty magical at this time of year.
Mie is going back to Denmark soon, so it’s so important for me to spend some quality time with her before she’s gone. I can’t beli how fast time flies, when you’re with people you love.
