Going to New York in December? 10 festive things to do in the Big Apple!

New York is magical at this time of the year. I want to say it’s my favorite time. Although everyone seems extra busy, there’s also a certain Holiday cheer on the streets. Music, cute outfits, people warming up on a hot chocolate, decorations. I love it. And if you find yourself in New York City for the holidays, here’s a list of festive events for you and your family!

1. Go see the giant Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, if you didn’t get to read my post about the tree lighting yesterday, let me just tell you: This is definitely a New York Christmas must!

2. “Sea of Light” at South Street Seaport. This is a new interactive art installation powered by 150,000 LEDs. Opening on December 5th (and there’ll be live music and free mulled wine, yaaaas!)

3. Amateur Night Holiday Special at Apollo Theater! I’m definitely going to this one. I’m a sucker for Christmas music, and I’m a sucker for singers that gives me the chills. This will go on December 9th and you can buy tickets right here.

4. Columbus Circle Holiday Market right at the entrance to Central Park. This is one of my favorite parts of Manhattan. The mix between giant buildings and the beautiful park just does it for me. And a Holiday Market right here is just a big ol’ win win.

5. Holiday Train Show at New York Botanical Gardens! Model Locomotives ride among familiar sights such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, and Rockefeller Center on nearly a half-mile of track. It looks pretty epic! Here more here.

6. The Nitehawk Cinema is showing old Chirstmas movies! When watching them at home (or in your hotel) just doesn’t quite do it, head to this cinema on 36 Metropolitan Avenue in Brooklyn, for some hygge! Check out their show schedule here.

7. “Unsilent Night” on December 17th. This is a magical participatory concert that goes from East to West Village lead by Composer Phil Kline. Again, I. Must. Go! Read more here.
