Upper East Side stroll

As I’m writing this, I’m sat in Central Park on one of the many big rocks. To my left is a group of young women sitting in a circle (I have tried to figure out what they’re doing for about 40 minutes now) to my right is a three-person jazz band playing the well-known non-rhythm rhythms of old school jazz. It most of all reminds me of the feeling I had, when I just arrived to New York. About two years ago. Young, free, and ready to concur the world (and also, it makes me want to type faster).

Now, two years later, I’m still young. But I’m definitely less free, and I think my idea of concurring that world has shrunken in just a bit. New York’s constant buzz will do that to you. I came here to build a career, and that’s what I’m doing. But in between two very exiting happenings, I decided to take some time off. To be that free, young woman again. Do the things I haven’t done for so long, because my energy level on the weekends has been close to 0%. I’ve started working out again (not just biking to and from the office), I’ve sipped coffee while doing some serious people-watching, gone for early morning-walks with my love, hung out with new friends, and like right now, sat in the park doing what I love; Writing. Most of all I’ve just completely taken a break from the busy lifestyle for a month. I’m working on gaining my strength and energy, rediscovering my joy of getting up in the morning, taken time off-line to be creative. Finding my best self.

The other day I met a friend for coffee and after we decided to go for a stroll on the Upper East Side. Park Avenue was full of cars doing their afternoon rush hour thing. Yellow cabs all over. The most perfect moment to snap a few photos of that day’s outfit which shows that fall is working it’s way in. It’s still nice and hot here, but some days and especially mornings, the crisp fall air makes me want to reach for warmer items. I cannot wait to fill up my wardrobe for the season-to-come to be honest.

I’m wearing a blue-striped boudoir style cropped top from Zara with high-wasted white jeans from Topshop. As Carrie would say, I styled it up (in this case probably down) with some shoes ala Supergas classic white sneak, retro Ray-Bans, and just loads of jewelry. A very classic late-summer outfit combo for me.

The jazz band started packing up for the day, so I think I’ll do the same. Head home to a cold shower after this stinging hot day. Drink a glass of wine just because I can. Sleeping in tomorrow. Just because I can.

See you soon!
