The city that never sleeps

edited-cab

Remember that episode of SATC, where Carrie gets up too late on the morning she has to ring the bell on Wall Street? She’s like: “In a city that never sleeps, it’s almost impossible to think that you can manage to sleep too late…”

That was me this morning (or well minus ringing the bell at Wall Street, although that would’ve been pretty cool!). I slept like a baby, but woke up to an alarm that had been ringing for 40 minutes. Half screaming half asleep, I ran around like some confused little pig. Shower, clothes on, make-up on. Check, check, check. Breakfast. I’ll grab something on the way. Brush teeth, make the bed, A/C off. Check. Run to the train. Take the wrong train (how’s that even possible? I just have to stand at the right side of the track and hop onto that one train that arrives here), train back, hop onto the right train. Phew. Run to L train, get off at 8th Avenue. Walk to the office. And yes, I mean walk, because we cannot have a way-too-sweaty-Christina-situation at the office (which is very realistic with the 90+ degrees we’ve been experiencing in the city lately). 430, 432, 434… 436. I made it. Update on time: 9.28am (my boss will only kill me after 9.30. That’s her limit!). Okay, I’m sweaty anyway. Should’ve taken that cab after all. Oh well, I guess I can say that I saved those $10 (which means shopping! A rule me and my sisters made once, when we really needed an excuse to do some shopping without our bank account supporting us at all!)

Computer on, take care of a phone call, open email (God, I’m swamped), okay I’m officially at work. That effort deserves a good cup of coffee. Double shot. Excuse me.
